In the Grand hall of the Government of Republic of Karelia medals and diplomas of XXVIII International exhibition "High technologies. Unnovations. Investments" in nomination "The best innovative and R&D project of the year" were awarded to participants from Karelia and PetrSU. The exhibition took place as part of St.-Petersburg Technical Fair during March 13-15, 2012. Silver medals and II degree diplomas were awarded to 7 projects presented by PetrSU (more information).
Rector of PetrSU Anatoly Voronin met with the delegation of North Karelia University of Applied Sciences (Finland).
The Finnish delegation comprised Petri Raivo, Rector of North Karelia University of Applied Sciences, Raimo Molainen, Director of the campus of creative disciplines, Harri Mukkonen, Director for international work, and Ekaterina Miettinen, project coordinator.
Anatoly Voronin has told that PetrSU is one of the leaders in the field of international cooperation among universities of Russia, and it is interested in the academic mobility, joint projects, research, and in cooperation with enterprises. Petri Raivo, Rector of North Karelia University of Applied Sciences, said: "When I was elected Rector of North Karelia University of Applied Sciences, one of the main aims I set myself was visiting Karelia and meeting representatives of PetrSU. It is time to give a new impulse to our work. I think that it is quite easy for us to find points of contact regarding exchange of students, teachers, and cooperation in the sphere of employment as a whole." The guests have also made a tour of the IT-park of PetrSU.
The Winter school on mobile programming was hosted by PetrSU on February 6-11, 2012. The Winter school included Android training (during February 6-10, given by FRUCT expert I. V. Paramonov from Yaroslavl State University, attended by 28 persons) and Qt Quick и QML training (during February 9-11, given by PetrSU instructor Alexander Borodin, attended by 21 persons).

This event is part of grant KA179 "Complex development of regional cooperation in the field of open ICT innovations" of Karelia ENPI - joint program of the European Union, Russian Federation and the Republic of Finland.
The project, which is financed by the European Union, unites 5 universities of the region - Petrozavodsk State University, Murmansk State University, Murmansk State Technological University, Syktyvkar State University and Northern Arctic Federal University - in a partner network. The goal of the project is to increase the level of awareness of teachers, students, public agents, civil society institutions and the public in the Barents region of Russia about EU-related issues (structure, polics, economy, law, European integration, relations between Russia and EU, etc.)
PetrSU with the project “Program of Strategic Development of PetrSU” has become 1 of 55 winners of grant competition organized by Ministry of Education and Science of Russia. The budget of the Program is 300 mln rub for 3 years. The Program goals are: complex engineering and technology research and development in natural resources, ICT and nano-technologies; complex medical-biology research and development; complex Northern-european studies; complex development of continuous education system and academic mobility. Rector of PetrSU said:"5 so-called 'mega-grant' competitions were held for universities of Russia during the past 3 years, and PetrSU has become the winner in all 5."
